Child Safety |
||
Dear Parents, The purpose of this note is to address any concerns you may have in relation to reports of suspicious activity outside some national schools in the county over the past couple of weeks. The safety of the children is paramount and we are taking these reports seriously as we would all reports of this nature. The facts of some of the reports are clear and some are not clear. The school has been and continues to be in close contact with the Gardaí. All teachers have taught the lesson on strangers from the Stay Safe programme and all school staff are aware of the reports and are being very vigilant. This note was not sent home with the children as usual because we did not want to cause any alarm by some of them reading it and then commenting to other pupils. The children need to know how to react if faced with a difficult situation but it is also important not to cause any unnecessary anxiety. I urge you to keep calm, particularly when you can be overheard by or when talking to the children. If you do notice any suspicious activity near the school please report it to the Gardaí. We are keeping the situation under constant review. Thank you for your cooperation as always. John Threadgold, 23rd November 2011
